After concluding that the domestic industry had suffered material injury, the DGAD recommended imposing an anti-dumping duty of 40.9% on imports of glass fibres and articles from China.

India has initiated an anti-dumping investigation against imports of glass fibre from China at the request of domestic industry.

Anti-dumping duties would range from 7.6 per cent to 40.9 per cent, based on the CIF value of products imported from China.

During the investigation period (April 2008 to September 2009), India's ANTI-DUMPING and Joint Tariff Board found that imports of glass fibre from China rose to 25,831 tonnes from 5,800 tonnes in the 2005-06 fiscal year.

Anti-dumping duties also ensure fair trade practices, creating a level of competition between domestic producers and foreign producers and exporters, avoiding dumping. As with protective tariff subsidies, anti-dumping duties vary from product to product and country to country.
